Strangulation can cause serious internal injuries even when no visible injuries are present. If you have experienced strangulation or neck compression, seek prompt emergency medical evaluation, particularly if you are experiencing difficulty breathing or swallowing, changes in your voice, dizziness, confusion, or other concerning symptoms.
YOUR PRIVACY & SAFETY
Your privacy and safety are important to us. Our appointment request forms are HIPAA-compliant and designed to protect the information you share.
If someone else may have access to your phone, email, or electronic devices, please consider whether it is safe to submit an online request. Let us know how we may safely contact you, including whether we may leave a voicemail or identify ourselves as Forensic Medical Services of Central Virginia.
CONFIDENTIALITY & REPORTING
We respect your privacy and your right to make informed decisions about your care. However, healthcare providers are required by law to report certain situations to the appropriate authorities.
These requirements may include suspected child abuse or neglect, suspected abuse of certain vulnerable adults/elders, and specific injuries or circumstances identified under Virginia law.
Seeking a forensic medical examination does not automatically require a law enforcement report in most situations. We will explain any applicable reporting requirements and your available options so you can make informed decisions about your care.
